American GIrl American Girl

Leah L. started her own magazine!
Dear American Girl,
I've always loved writing, drawing, and photography, and one day I came up with the idea for a magazine that would be for Jewish girls like me. When I was 12, I mapped out a table of contents and created the logo for my dream magazine.
After finding advertisers, interviewing Jewish girl, writing and illustrating articles, designing the layout, shooting the cover photo, sending out press releases, and lots more work, YALDAH debuted last fall. I printed 150 copies. They sold out quickly, so I printed more. Then those sold out! Newspapers and TV stations began calling me for interviews. The second issue was even better than the first. Word spread quickly, and one day I got 600 hits on my Web site!
Now I have an editorial board of 14 girls to help me. As YALDAH grows, I am learning a lot about the publishing business. I've also made many friends--each day I get lots of e-mails from Jewish girls around the world. I hope that YALDAH will inspire girls to take pride in their heritage.
