Leah Larson
Founder, Editor, and Publisher
Leah Larson, age 17, began working on YALDAH when she was twelve. After a year of hard work, the first issue came out when she was only thirteen. Since then she's been running YALDAH as it continued to grow. Her talent and experience with writing, photography, art, and computers helped her create the first issue. Leah has received awards including Next Step Magazine's 'Super Teen' and Microsoft's Start Something Amazing Award.
Although when she started YALDAH, Leah was the editor, publisher, photographer, writer, accountant, webmaster, publicity department and countless other roles, as YALDAH expanded she learned to delegate. Currently she is the editor and publisher, and does the graphic design and web design for YALDAH, as well as overseeing other aspects of the business. She also has her own graphic design business, LL Design. Leah lives with her parents, brother, and sister in Sharon, MA and boards at Bais Chomesh High School in Toronto.
Aliza Schoenbrun
Editorial Assistant
Aliza Schoenbrun, age 15, became the YALDAH Editorial Assistant in January 2008. Aliza's editing skills help each issue be the best it can be before it goes to print. Aliza lives in Brooklyn, NY with her parents and siblings and is a tenth grader in a Bais Yaakov High School nearby. Some of Aliza's hobbies include reading, writing, graphic design, and of course, Yaldah editing.
Chava Resnick
Subscriptions Manager
Since YALDAH's first issues Chavie has been a great asset to the magazine. She was on the first girls Editorial Board and has been on the subsequent Editorial Boards ever since. In 2007 Chavie took on the Subscriptions Manager position aiding YALDAH with her organizational skills. Chavie, age 14 lives in Sharon, MA with her family. She is in 9th grade at New England Academy of Torah in Providence, RI. She also enjoys reading, writing, baking, cake decorating, and party planning.
Lynn Cutler
Advertising Manager
Lynn Cutler is a full-time stay-at-home Jewish mother from New Jersey. She comes to YALDAH with experience in corporate marketing and as a 6-8 grade teacher, Hebrew School teacher, freelance writer, and tutor. She is also the founder of jewish-scrapbooking.com and loves scrapbooking and papercrafting. Lynn holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Drew University and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Bowling Green State University. She joined the YALDAH team in Summer 2008.
Nechama Saltzman
Editorial Board Coordinator
Nechama Saltzman, 14, started receiving YALDAH at its third issue. She was on the Editorial Board in 2006 and demonstrated great organizational skills ordering YALDAH sweatshirts and coordinating a surprise scrapbook for Leah Larson. Nechama took on the role of Editorial Board Coordinator in 2008. Nechama also enjoys music and babysitting. She lives in Milwaukee with her family and is in tenth grade at Torah Academy of Milwaukee.
Evelyn Krieger
Fiction Editor
In addition to freelance writing, Evelyn Krieger has worked as a first grade teacher, private tutor, dance instructor, educational consultant, and reading specialist. She is the author of the book, Developing Reading and Writing through Author Awareness. Her work has been published in Family Fun, The Reading Teacher, Learning, Teacher Magazine, Baby Talk, Boston Tab, Lilith, Memoirs Ink and Writer's Digest. Ms. Krieger enjoys entering writing competitions and has won several awards for her essays and fiction. Ms. Krieger was the Writing Workshop leader at the Jewish Girls Winter Retreat, 2007 and 2008.
Penina Harrison
Copy Editor
Penina Harrison is 14 years old and is in 9th grade at Bais Rivkah of Montreal. Until age four, she lived in a Chabad House in London, Ontario and would go up to the university students with huge piles of books and tell them, "you can read to me now." She has not stopped reading since, and Penina wrote her first story when she was seven. Penina says she practically has a new, rare condition called OCPD - Obsessive Compulsive Proofreading Disorder. Penina lives in Montreal, Canada with her parents and five siblings. She joined the YALDAH team in Fall 2008.
Chaya Kraines
Webmaster
Chaya, age 11, became YALDAH’s webmaster in October 2008. Chaya’s computer skills help her maintain the YALDAH website. Chaya lives in Johannesburg, South Africa with her parents and 4 out of 11 siblings. She is in 5
