Leah Larson
Founder, Editor, and Publisher

Leah Larson, age 19, began working on YALDAH when she was twelve. After a year of hard work, the first issue came out when she was only thirteen. Since then she's been running YALDAH as it continued to grow. Her talent and experience with writing, photography, art, and computers helped her create the first issue. Leah has received awards including Next Step Magazine's 'Super Teen' and Microsoft's Start Something Amazing Award.

Although when she started YALDAH, Leah was the editor, publisher, photographer, writer, accountant, webmaster, publicity department and countless other roles, as YALDAH expanded she learned to delegate. Currently she is the editor and publisher, and does the graphic design and web design for YALDAH, as well as overseeing other aspects of the business. She also has her own graphic design business, LL Design. Leah lives with her parents, brother, and sister in Sharon, MA and is currently studying in Israel.Back To Top Of Page

 

Mary Abadi
Graphic Designer

Mary is 19 years old and has been following Leah's progress with YALDAH throughout the years, from when she first heard about it in American Girl magazine. She has many hobbies that take her on all sorts of adventures--from being in two Jewish films, and a successful stage musical she wrote with her mother, to winning a HarperCollins writing contest, and submitting her children's book to Artscroll, and of course, the greatest one of all--becoming YALDAH's layout and graphic designer!

 

Penina Harrison
Editorial Director

Penina Harrison is 14 years old and is in tenth grade at Bais Rivkah of Montreal. Until age four, she lived in a Chabad House in London, Ontario and would go up to the university students with huge piles of books and tell them, "you can read to me now." She has not  stopped reading since, and Penina wrote her first story  when she was seven. Penina loves editing and writing. She joined the YALDAH team in Fall 2008.  Back To Top Of Page

 

Emily Gordis
Executive Editor

Twelve year old Emily Gordis joined the YALDAH team in Spring 2009 and lives in Berkeley, California with her parents and three siblings.  In her spare time, Emily pursues her interest in graphic design, writing, photography and video production.  Emily was on the 2008 Editorial Board of YALDAH as a writer and enjoys supervising production of YALDAH for each issue.  Emily is in 7th grade and she is home schooled.  She has been published in American Girl, Stone Soup and, of course, YALDAH. Back To Top Of Page

 

Evelyn Krieger
Fiction Editor
In addition to freelance writing, Evelyn Krieger has worked as a first grade teacher, private tutor, dance instructor, educational consultant, and reading specialist.  She is the author of the book, Developing Reading and Writing through Author Awareness. Her work has been published in Family Fun, The Reading Teacher, Learning, Teacher Magazine, Baby Talk, Boston Tab, Lilith, Memoirs Ink and Writer's Digest.  Ms. Krieger enjoys entering writing competitions and has won several awards for her essays and fiction. Ms. Krieger was the Writing Workshop leader at the Jewish Girls Winter Retreat, 2007 and 2008.

Aliza Schoenbrun
Copy Editor

Aliza Schoenbrun, age 16, became the YALDAH Editorial Assistant in January 2008, and moved to Copy Editor at the end of 2008. Aliza's editing skills help each issue be the best it can be before it goes to print. Aliza lives in  NY and is currently an eleventh grader. In her spare time, Aliza enjoys graphic design, jewelry making and reading.

Chava Resnick
Subscriptions Manager

Since YALDA's first issues Chavie has been a great asset to the magazine. She was on the first girls Editorial Board  and has been on the subsequent Editorial Boards ever since. In 2007 Chavie took on the Subscriptions Manager position, aiding YALDAH with her organizational skills. Chavie, age 14, lives in Sharon, MA with her family. She is in 10th grade at New England Academy of Torah in Providence, RI. She also enjoys reading, writing, baking, cake decorating, and party planning. Back To Top Of Page


Nechama Saltzman    

Editorial Board CoordinatorBookstore Manager
Nechama Saltzman    , 16, started receiving YALDAH at its third issue. She was on the Editorial Board in 2006 and took on the role of Editorial Board Coordinator in 2008. In the fall of 2009, Nechama became the Bookstore Manager as well, adding even more to her already busy schedule, which includes being an eleventh grade student and heading two year-long projects at her school, Torah Academy of Milwaukee. In her spare time, she enjoys music, babysitting her adorable neighbors in Milwaukee, and learning, among other things!. Back To Top Of Page

    

Rena Winick
Marketing Manager
Rena Winick is 12 years old, and is in 7th grade. She lives in San Diego, CA with her parents and two sisters. After getting her first issue of Yaldah she knew that she wanted to help Yaldah, and when the job descriptions went up, she knew that this was her chance. Rena became the Marketing Manager in Fall 2008. She enjoys writing, reading, playing the violin, doing needlework, baking, and reading the latest issue of YALDAH magazine.

Tova Winick
Marketing Manager Assistant
Tova Winick is 10 years old and lives in San Diego, CA. She's been getting YALDAH magazine for about four years. After a few times of reading the magazine she really wanted to get more involved with it! Tova became marketing manager assistant in Winter 2008. Chava Sneiderman

Manager
A fifteen-year old with a passion for writing, Chava Sneiderman, whose family lives in DE, sacrifices much to attend Beth Rivkah HIgh school in Brooklyn NY, where she boards with a family. Besides being the publicity manager of YALDAH, Chava is also on the editorial board of JVIbe magazine for Jewish teens, and the associate editor of her school's newspaper, The Grapevine. In her free time, Chava enjoys yoga, baking, and trying new things.

Chaya Kraines
Webmaster
Chaya, age 13, became YALDAH’s webmaster in October 2008. Chaya’s computer skills help her maintain the YALDAH website. Chaya lives in Johannesburg, South Africa with her parents and 4 out of 11 siblings. She is in 7th grade (the school year starts in January) at Bais Yaakov. Some of Chaya’s hobbies include reading, writing, computers, knitting, babysitting, programming, art, graphics design, web design, cooking, ballet, spanish dancing, drama, choreography & swimming. Chana Eisenberg
Your Question
A bookworm and aspiring author, Chana Eisenberg was reading, writing, and thinking up ideas for poems, books, and articles from a young age. Though she has since given up the idea of writing a book, Chana still reads anything with print on it.  In about sixth or seventh grade, people began asking her questions.  Even though it was odd at first, and took her a while to get used to the position, Chana has been fielding questions from people on pretty much any and every topic ever since. She joined Yaldah Magazine in September 2007, and has been responding readers' questions ever since. Her interests are in chassidus, teaching, reading, and helping others. Back To Top Of Page
